After several postponements due to lockdown restrictions, the formal opening ceremony for the newly refurbished Grafham pavilion, the home of our flourishing women & girls' section, finally took place on Sunday 25 July.
Th ribbon was cut by Club President Peter Herbert, after which there was a sit-down lunch for invited guests in the marquee and a BBQ. The afternoon saw the first ever Hundred match played by any Blackheath team, a contest between the Blackheath Women and a Blackheath U18 Girls team for a magnificent trophy kindly donated by James Denton of Culinary Concepts. The match was narrowly won by the Blackheath Women with just 5 balls to spare.
The refurbishment of the ground and pavilion has involved a colossal effort from a large number of members, as well as major financial contributions from the London Marathon Charitable Trust, Sport England and Surrey Cricket. A huge thank you to all of them.
