The cricket season is now underway and, from now until late July, Thursday evenings are Women and Girls Evenings at Blackheath.
Training sessions – FREE TASTERS for new members
As last year, there are 2 training sessions every Thursday starting this week (24 April):
4.45pm-6pm: U9/U8 and U11/U10 Girls
6.30pm-8pm: U13/U12 and U15/U14 Girls and Women
All sessions will be run by our highly experienced Women and Girls Head Coach, Sharon Eyers, supported by a team of professional coaches. The U13/U12 and U15/U14 girls play hardball cricket, while the younger girls and the women play softball cricket only, for which no special equipment is required.
We’re keen to expand our Women and Girls’ section at all age groups and are currently offering FREE TASTER SESSIONS to new women or girl members. We welcome all abilities, so whether you’re an experienced cricketer or new to the game, why not come along and give it a try?
Thursday night is pizza night!
This year we’re also aiming to make Thursdays a really enjoyable experience, not just for those doing the training, but also for parents and other family members who are most welcome to stay at the club during the training sessions to enjoy our facilities.
The bar will be open from 4.45pm onwards. And as an experiment, on the first Thursday (24 April) woodfired pizzas will be served from around 5.45pm until 8.15pm. If the pizzas prove popular, we hope to continue this throughout the season.
Matches for all abilities
Aside from training, there are matches for all age groups against other clubs, starting in early May. Most of the girls matches are on Sunday mornings, but some are on weekday evenings. Most of the women’s matches are on Sunday afternoons.
Full details of all fixtures are now on the website at www.blackheathcricket.com/women and www.blackheathcricket.com/girls. Please do make yourself available to play in these games is you can – watch out for emails from squad managers and captains about this and make sure you respond promptly. Alternatively, you can fill in availability for a few weeks in advance by logging into to Teamtamer via the Members button on the website and clicking on “Your Diary”.
For women who would like to give matches a try without committing, you're welcome to free taster game.
